Notes by Firefox for Android
Mozilla has rolled out an Android app companion to its browser's notes tool. The free Notes by Firefox addon enables simple, encrypted note taking both in the browser on desktop and in the app on your phone or tablet. Notes are automatically synchronized across both platforms thanks to Firefox Account.
In addition to the sidebar with all notes (which can be moved and resized) it is possible to create sticky notes, multimedia annotations (like audio and video playback) or text highlighting. Text can also be formatted with various options including markdown and bullet lists. The Android app has a few extras like the ability to change the selection background color (this feature only works in the text annotations).
The Android version of Firefox also supports FloatNotes which, as you might expect from the name, allows notes to be placed in floating windows on any page. It's a great alternative to the many other note-taking addons that are available and includes features like printing, autosave and the ability to set an automatic number of notes to be displayed at any time. It's also possible to sync with Dropbox, Google Docs, Sugarsync and Evernote.
Unlike most other apps in this category Notes by Firefox is a 'no frills' application that offers basic, straightforward functionality with little in the way of additional features or complexity. This approach should make it easy for anyone to get started and easily manage a growing collection of notes with minimal effort.
